Update from November 12, 2008 to March 10, 2010: It's been over three years since I changed anything on this page, almost five years since I put the site on Hiatus, and seven and a half years since it was opened. I wanted to announce I'm trying to organize translations for all the doujinshi that was found on this site; whether it's mine, or was contributed, I'd like to be able to share it again. This site is not open yet- I'm simply looking for help prior to it opening. Read below and please let me know if you think you can help!

March 10, 2010: Glitterberri has a new site- go there and check out her translations! In the main news: Some stressful stuff was going on at my end of things so the the project kind of grinded to a halt. One of these things is that I'm having problems with nerve damage in both my arms... so typing, and moving them around, isn't something I can do a lot of at the moment. But, I'm still going to try to do what I can for the site while I'm trying to heal up. It might even be a good opportunity for me to scan the numerous volumes of manga that I've never had the time for before. Regardless; Thanks for bearing with me.
Zelda Translation Project Introduction:
Hi! Melora here. This site once had a lot of manga and doujinshi on it. I'm thinking about sharing the collection with everyone again and I really need help with Japanese to English translations.
So, this page should show what I have and what I'm looking for. Let me know what you think you can do or if you need more information on something (or larger scans.) Once someone has agreed to work on a "volume," I will post that next to it, so no one gets confused and does any unnecessary work :D Please speak with me before you start on anything so that doesn't happen by accident. D: I'm also not asking translators to do the editing work, I am happy to do that myself, or to find other people who would like to help. The bottom of this page has a F.A.Q and more info on other things!
Current Status and Translators:
If you translate something I want to pay you for the work... which means; I don't have a lot of extra cash but I can do commissions. It doesn't have to be for you either, it could be for a friend, or whatever. I figure how much time I would spend on a piece would be, roughly, determined by the amount of time and skill involved for translating or, if it's a donation on your part (-to all the zelda fans out there and to the greater awesomeness of the internet,) I'll be happy to pay with adoration and cookies and try to help you with anything you might need in the future :) To see the kind of art I'm comfy doing, please check out my DeviantART gallery. I can also build simple website's in exchange.

Zelda Doujinshi:
FYI: A means I (and others) would really love to see it done- but by no means does a star mean that those need to be done first. Most of these are scanned, some are not. In the notes I'll add which ones I know I have large scans for- which would be easier to read from. If I don't have large scans for something ready, and you want to work on it, no biggie! I'd be happy to get them to you, if possible, it just wont be as instantaneous. If it is something I am not able to get large scans for, the images will only be around the size you see in the examples below. If I have the title of something wrong, please let me know. Oh, and I do not really need things like the artists talk, and advertisement pages, translated. I'm also not asking translators to do the editing work, I am happy to do that myself.
Manga:
FYI: I would REALLY love to have any of these done consider them starred! But- I know they would take quite a commitment... Except for the last one, the Multi-Guide. There's only 18 comic pages to it and they're not very text heavy. Most of the pages are only about 450x670 -but I can get you larger scans if you need them.

4 Koma:
FYI: The text below the image refers to the name I have the files under. If you refer to one of these to me, please use the name I'm using- Example: "Enix OoT Tan" The title's I've given them also include which game the book covers. If you know Zelda, you should know what they mean LttP = Link to the Past. The scans I have ready are 450x670, but I can get larger ones to you. Right now I only have the first color pages of these volumes scanned. I do plan on scanning the whole of each volume though.

Other: Interviews, Bio's, FAQ's:
FYI: I am looking for someone who would translate any interviews, bio info, and FAQ's of Zelda game creators and manga creators such as Akira Himekawa. (If anyone knows of existing translations of this kind of stuff, please let me know! I've been out of the loop for a few years) This is what I know of, but I'd be very interested in other stuff I may not know about!
Translation Pending! I am looking for translations of the "Zelda Box" book- Just the first part with the interviews and concept stuff & character info sections. Not the game-play help, I don't have any want for more of that. (Ditto to the above. If it exists already, please let me know) But I think this would be pretty awesome to have done.

You can find Zip's of my Zelda Box scans here. They are really large, so, if you have a problem with those, let me know and I can link you to the pages. I think you should only have to download the zip with the first part.
Translation done! Akira Himekawa Interview. Here's the links to an interview done with the newer Link to the Past manga.
Link's to more Akira Himekawa interviews and also: Their Bio.
Already translated or being translated:
FYI: These do not need to be done and I do not need copies of them
I have these, but am not seeking translations right now:
FYI: Some of it's crappy (IMPO the manga listed here,) some of it's too long (like the Novels,) and some of it is just too pointlessly pornographic for me to care about- Like the NISE volumes.

Spot errors? Confused? Have an idea?
Please let me know if there is anything confusing or messed up with this page! (Or if you just want to comment or have an idea for the project.) I want it to be comprehensive and easy to understand, but I'm not always good at making things that way. If I need to change something, I will be happy to, but I'll need your input to know.
Frequently Asked Questions and Other Info:
Q: What are the Plans?
A: I would like to work on getting as many translations done as possible but I probably wont be posting them until at least a few are completely finished and the new site layout is done. As I, the translators, and editors, are working on the stuff for the site, like doujinshi, I'll also be working on an actual website for it. It might take a little while. Please don't get discouraged, it will get done. Right now I'm really behind, because I had to move and we're renovating the house we bought, but I'm still *trying* to get things done. I have no intention of dropping the project.
Q: Why can't you just use the old layout?
A: Because it was one of the first sites I ever built and it's dated and the code is horribly done and broken. It would take about as long to fix it as it would to start from scratch- so I figure I might as well make something that looks nice and is a little more functional than the old layout.
Q: Can I post these on my site or another site?
A: With any pages here, or if I give you the pages for things like translation or editing reasons, PLEASE do not distribute them publicly on other websites/blogs/etc... In the future I'll have better guidelines for what wishes I would hope you wouldn't mind respecting but, I hope that's an okay request at least for now. As an example: I, or friends, paid good money for this stuff and took the time to scan it. It wont be immediate, but I am looking to get these translated so I CAN share them on this websites. I can add some more about that to this FAQ if need be or requested.
Q: Where are the whole volumes of doujnshi/manga/4koma? Why can I only see the covers and a few pages?
A: The doujinshi etc... isn't posted yet. This website front page is only up to inform people and to let people who want to work on things know what's available. But, in the future, the whole volume- all the pages- of everything- will be posted on this site. As of now this is only a notification page- it's not the real, working, website it will be in the future.
Q: When will I be able to read the doujinshi on this site?
A: I don't know when the site will be ready to launch. I WAS shooting to have it open on May 22, 2009- but an insane amount of stuff came up in real life- not just for me, for many of the other people working on translations and editing. Right now things are a little scattered but I'd rather spend some time on doing things right, and giving the other people working on things room to breathe, than stress everyone out and have an inferior and nonfunctional presentation of the material.
Q: Will you charge a fee to view the doujinshi?
A: I'm kind of surprised that I've been getting asked this a lot. Of course not! That's not what fandom is about to me and, besides, I certainly have no right to charge for someone else's doujinshi and manga.
Q: What size will the doujinshi pages be on the site? High-rez?
A: They'll be approx 450x670. I know most people would want them to be larger but... I do not usually offer large scans of doujinshi. The reason for this is because I have very mixed feelings on posting it at all. The sketchy way I deal with my ethical dilemma is to at least only offer pages that are just large enough to be enjoyable and clearly viewable- but not so large that it would discourage too many sales from doujinshi dealers and original authors. See the next question too.
Q: How will you offer the pages? In compressed files? Maybe something like mega download?
A: Ack :( No. I like sites that have a really personal, hand crafted, feel. I want people to be able to easily read pages on the site at their leisure. While I may have something like .zips available, the pages will be most likely be presented a double spread format like on this other site of mine: example link or as a single page format, like on this site: example link.
Q: Will you have adult content, like doujinshi, on this site?
A: Yes... sort of. It wont be directly on this site but there's probably going to be a live journal account where more mature material can be posted. The reason for the split is so I don't even come close to violating my Terms of Service with my web host and because I *think* Live Journal has a pretty decent feature for mature content.. it at least asks you to verify your age before you can view stuff.
Q: What are you looking for- for this site? Maybe I can help?
A: I'm honestly looking for any other Zelda manga, 4 koma, doujinshi, comics, etc... that I do not have listed above. (I'm also looking for scans of art, guides, magazines, and other media- but I might make a more general call for that later. See the info section below for more info on this.) Contact me if you are interested in selling or making scans of what you have. Donations are VERY welcome. If you need money, I'll be happy to look at what you have to see if I would pay for it. I should also state that I don't ever feel the need to own the actual volume: I'm very happy to pay a small price, a per page rate, for decent scans- so this might work out if you would like to keep what you own but still make a little money back on it. What I would need would be 300 dpi, not to "jpeg-gy," and no really bad gray area from the seam. See the next question below for a little more info.

WANTED: I am specifically looking for #4 in the first series of Doujinshi I and a friend have the rest of, it's got an English title: A Brave Man Bloody and looks like this. (Scans would be just as awesome, I don't need the volume if you don't want to part with it.) I'd REALLY like to find it. I know someone in the US has it, just don't know who they are, but if it shows up on ebay or yahoo japan, I'd also like to know so I could bid on it.

WANTED: I'm really interested in finding book 3 of this Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link guides/manga series. REALLY INTERESTED. I LOVE stuff from this game- it's bit of an obsession of mine. I have book 1 and 2, I just need 3 (even just scans.) Please please please let me know if you see it anywhere, like ebay or yahoo japan, or have it, and would sell it, to me ...or even just sell scans to me!
Contact me at melorasworld@gmail.com
Q: I have a doujinshi/manga/comic/etc... not listed on this page, would you like me to scan it for you?
A: Dear lord! You don't even need to ask! Please do! Everyone will love that! See the question above for a little more info on this, and also see the info a few lines down called "for people contributing scans" and also let me know what webname, email, and possible sites you would like me to credit you with as a donator. And, while I can't make any promises, anything you donate may also get picked up by a translator to be edited~ free of any charge to you. If you donate something, and you don't mind waiting, I should be able to do a little sketch/drawing for you as a thanks.
Q: I can read Japanese, can I help?
A: YES! You certainly can. Just email me and let me know what you'd like to work on. It's your choice but I could also try recommending things that might be more to your taste and skill level. Also let me know what webname, email, and possible sites you would like me to credit you with as a translator. If you are able to translate something, it might take a while, but I'd love to be able to do a drawing/painting for you as some form of payment. The harder the work the more time and skill I promise to put into the piece. I also don't expect translators to be doing their own editing work- unless they want to. Your skills are better put to use on translations- others, like people who can't read Japanese, can do editing.
Q: I can edit text into pages, can I help?
A: Maybe. Just send me some examples of your work if you can. If you don't really have any current ones you're happy with, I could give you a few pages to work on to see if it would work out :)
Q: Do you want me to send you my fanart?
A: Yes!... and no. I do, but not just now. If you send it to me now I'll loose track of it. When I open the site I will let people know that I'm ready to receive fanart. (I love fanart)
Info... I NEEDS ME SOME RARE ART: I'm also interested in rare official, and semi-official, zelda art, but I don't have a list of my collection up to let you know what I actually need. But, basically, if you can't find it on Zelda Legends, I'll probably be looking for it. If you can find it there, I probably don't need it.
Info... EBAY and auction info: My screen name shows up as o***g, if I'm bidding, I will scan what I get (so it won't be like you would never see it again) and, if you're bidding against me, email me and let me know that you'd like the item- I'll usually stop bidding if I'm promised that I can get, or buy for a fair price, scans from you. I had this info on my old site and it seemed to work out well for everyone (better when the whole screen name showed up) ;)
Info... For people contributing scans: The size of the scans needed, for translators to be able to read from, are going to be rather large. Seldom does 150 dpi work. 300 dpi is usually the best. Rarely, but sometimes, larger scans could be needed if the text in the doujinshi is VERY small. Also, check some of the scans to make sure that any text near the binding did not get fuzzed out during the scanning process. Grayscale scans of black and white pages are perfectly fine -and usually make the scanning process go faster. And let me know what webname, email, and possible sites you would like me to credit you with as a donator.
Info... For people translating: If you hit a snag, just contact me. I also love being updated on your status, even if you just need to take a little break, and I also might be able to get you larger scans of hard to read Kanji if you're having any problems with that- or to find someone to help if there's something you just can't figure out. I'm also not that interested in the free talk, sfx, or advertisement pages being translated. You are free to do them of course! but- I think the main thing others will be interested in is just what the Zelda characters are saying. I do understand that some times the free talk type of pages hold information that's important to the story in the doujinshi- if this is the case, a translation would be nice, but a summary would probably work just as well. I'll trust your judgment on the matter. And let me know what webname, email, and possible sites you would like me to credit you with as a translator. I also don't expect translators to be doing their own editing work- unless they want to. Your skills are better put to use on translations- others, like people who can't read Japanese, can do editing.
Info... For people editing text onto the pages: The final size of the pages presented on the site are only going to be approximately 450x670. All of the text editing done on the pages should be legible at that size. Try to pick fonts that look nice but are not going to be hard to read. If would also be nice if you acted as an actual editor- that is checking for spelling and grammar mistakes. It tends to work better this way, to have more eyes looking for errors. Please tag the images with: historyofhyrule.com translated by: ---- edited by: your webname. I will have your name, with your email and any site of yours, that you like, listed on a contact hub- so that way you'll be properly credited without having to put too much tag info on the page. For example: the pages will be most likely be presented a double spread format like on this other site of mine: example link or as a single page format, like on this site: example link.
Additions:
Jan 23, 2010: Added the 2 (or 3 volumes) of AoL manga that I was able to find. Also, several volumes of doujinshi have been fully edited and marked so.
Aug 12, 2009: I made sure to re-add the link to Glitterberri's Phantom Hourglass Translation. She's up to chapter 8!! I also added a F.A.Q, (because I've been getting a ton of questions since I first started posting again;) pictures of 6 new doujinshi that will be available for translation shortly (probably by the 18th of this month!) and images of some Adventure of Link books I'd really like to get my hands on!
Feb 04, 2009: My two, very old, volumes of manga for the original Legend of Zelda just arrived. I've added them to the manga section below.
Jan 21, 2009: Added 9 new doujinshi that should be here shortly, they're at the bottom of the doujinshi list. If you'd like to translate any of them, let me know and I'll hold them for you. It also looks like Secret Shiek, Star Show, and Love Navigation will be done with the editing phase shortly.
Nov 27, 2008: added three 4 koma's that will be available for translators.
Nov 24, 2008: I've added the Doujinshi Star Show to the list. See below.
Thanks everyone, I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help and patience!
