~the place called morning~

Another world, filled with every enchanted landscape and magical beast you can imagine. Floating trees, forest that have trunks going up for ever, etc... It's never really night and really odd. Melora's wolf friend, Brin, came from here as did Urack's advisor Ack... We just call him Dragon.

The prominent figures there are these God-beasts, Worgs: Dire Wolves, Brin is one of them. The five of them are the essence of all aspects of life. Grom and Tala are their "leaders" the alpha couple -they are on either end of the spectrum and the three other pack members balance them out. Their daughter, Brin, represents the wind -like Melora- and is the center, the most neutrally balance. They are the ones most directly involved with trying to keep the darkness away and OneLand from falling apart due to it's burden. These worgs also hold onto Urack's soul (from before his birth) and use it to manipulate him, his life, and what affects him... It also makes him immune to magic since he has no local soul to be effected by spells. It's kind of like an insurance policy for them, so they know they always have an agent in OneLand. They're called Worgs because I liked that name for wolves when I read The Hobbit, and I saw an illustration of Dire Wolves in one of my dinosaur books that looked really cool: Those two things, and the aboriginal tales of dingo's- being both good and evil, are pretty much what they're based on.

Melora has been to the place called Morning, for different lengths of time, depending on the tale & she usually gains first access by dying. It's where, thanks to the Worgs, she really learns how to use her magical abilities and gains a better understanding of the workings, the threads, of the worlds. She's OneLand's first Empress after all :)

There are also Dragon Birds and Dragon Horses (I need to draw or find pictures, there is a dragon bird in that first pic but, it's sketchy) as well as my favorite: the Acks. The nobel green dragons that can turn into gnarled trees. They're usually around 16 feet long but can keep growing, it just really slows down around that point. A really big one, maybe 50 feet, is a REALLY old one. There are humans in Morning, but they're not the prominent force. They're more just like another faction.

Oh, and "A Place Called Morning" was the name of my "english lit" book in either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade. (It was from my first school, that's the grade range I attended from) I didn't know the title was a quote, I just really liked the illustration on the cover. It was this forest overlooking a vast field, packed with animals done in a funky style, and I remember the sky looked cool. So- this place has been growing in my mind for that long.
