~places: the isle of mist~

This is where my character's stories really begin. Urack was born and raised here and Keia meets him here. It's an island in the inner sea that is, actually, and inactive volcano: It has high walls and a crater in the center that is very moist and warm. There are hot springs and it's floor is fairly level. It's almost always covered in a mist and, while it's not really tropical, the plants are green all year. On the southern end of the island is a small port and village, on the northern end of the island is the old castle that the World Dragon trashed. No one really goes there any more. It used to be a stopping point for ships on the inner sea, but near by Neiking became the new place to stop once the Dragon attacked. Plus, the sea's are pretty rough around it and there's a lot of rocks jutting up; they've claimed many ships.

I drew this a long time ago, maybe in 1995 or 1996. It's the village that Urack grew up in. Mostly shacks inhabited by people who were probably gypsy's and criminals. The building by the entrance of the village is an inn (bottom most building in the image) and across from it is the blacksmiths. Urack lived with a guy in the house that's the top most one, at an angle, with a gray roof. By the stream. The road at the bottom goes to the port. There's only a few more houses, shacks, that would be cut off by the top of this picture, and then it backs up to another cliff face.

Urack's dragon friend, Norie -below, lives here. There are a lot of caves, Urack was hiding in one when he saw a glow (magma) and by it were 3 eggs. 1 was hatched out already, and Norie's hatched when he started messing with it. He's lacking friends so he enjoys hanging otu with Norie and huting for him when he's little. Later in life, in the same cave, he finds the center ruby for his sword. There are a lot of magical beasts on the island but they're kind of hard to find. It's one of the things that attracts the huunting parties though. It's also surrounded by these humongous black whale shark things that would creep anyone out.
