~story: the lion lands and people~

Each of the three major countries has their own race, culture, as well as other interesting differences to note. This is some basics on the Lion Lands. This page is a work in progress as of December 01, 2008.

Influences:
This land and its people are everything I don't have in my blood but love for how beautiful and, or, inspiring it is. Greek, Babylonian, Persian, Indian, Aboriginal, ...It's all over the place. It has a golden landscape that the other countries are lacking. Men and women are equal here, magic is abundant, and they value a skill in speech above all else; this is Korin's homeland.

Language:
Has to be something that is easy to rhyme in. I dunno, maybe something that sounds like Farsi... or Tamil ...or ...something :/ I don't know. I need to find video's of languages for examples of what I would try, in vain, to explain.

Appearance of the People:
Tall, darker skin (the sun eventually tanned them for good), dark hair, and rounded ears- like a lions. Dress:

Culture:
It's a hypocritical land, probably caused by too many people with power: Men and women are as equals in every way but, like in Ancient Greece, or Ancient Egypt, there's a huge slave trade and ALL of the industry is built on its back. There's hardly anything like a middle class. It's Royalty: Rich Merchants: Slaves. The slaves are mostly made up of greenlanders who, or who's ancestors, were unfortunate enough to wind up here- the other portion is made up of defeated royalty and loyalists. There are a lot of princes and princesses here...and they fight over each other's stuff a lot. Once you loose your seat, you're nothing but fair game.

There are a lot of practiced religions in this country. One of them is very "ancient Egyptian." They can't use magic but worship it- Korin's mom is part of it. The other is very aboriginal in it's beliefs, and they practice the magic they can use- Korin's dad is from this desert tribe.

It's a very sexually open culture: One of the main reasons there's so much royalty.

Notes:
The Celestial Lion: I mentioned this in the About: Overview- It's a Lion with the wings of a crow, the Lion people have it in their blood. It's also how many celestials view the world map. See below? Compare that to the maps of the world I have in this section.

Korin's also always wears a symbol that's important to his people. It's on him in most of my art of him, but I made one (poorly) in metal smithing class.

For a long time I thought Korin looked cute with pointed ears, so you might see him, or other lions, drawn that way. I finally bit the bullet and decided the Lion's should have round ears, like real Lions.
